Our Capabilities

Since 1981 Creative Laminating has experience laminating thermal films, pressure sensitive adhesives, and multiple over laminates to a wide variety of substrates including vinyl, synthetic papers, metal, floor graphics, window clings, and of course paper.

In addition, in an effort to help server our customers, we have added more print finishing services, and state of the art equipment. We pursue the latest technologies in print finishing to help keep up with the rapidly changing printing market.

We boast the largest press sheet capabilities, both one and two sides. We were one of the first companies to own and operate specialized index tab cutting equipment for heavy inks and coated stocks. Our two “BladeRunners” are the fastest single side laminators in the Twin Cities.

Our customer service staff has a combined 50+ years laminating experience. We are always available to advise you on your special or “out of the ordinary” projects. We welcome the challenge to prove why we are called Creative Laminating!

Single sided (one side) Laminating

Creative Laminating has the largest single side laminating press in Minnesota. We also possess the latest technology with two “hot knife” machines. The hot knife cuts the laminate instead of the traditional “bursting” or “snapping” of the film which allows for significantly faster running speed, a cleaner separation, and a much more uniform load of finished press sheets. Our capabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Min sheet size of 8.5 x 11”
• Max sheet size of 44.09 x 55.9”
• Stocks from 70# litho label, up to 24 pt
• Typical films are 1.2 polyester, stay flat, or glueable/stampable, 2-3 mil white backing films printable and non-printable, 2 mil metalized films

Double sided (two side) Laminating

Creative Laminating has 4 high speed, fully automatic double sided laminators. In addition we also have 2 hand fed, short run, laminators covering every job from 1 sheet to large quantities as well. Our capabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Min sheet size of 1 x 2”
• Max sheet size 31 x 48”
• Stocks range from 60# offset up to fome core and gator boards
• Film ranges from thin 1.7 mil up to 15 mil

Wide Format

Creative Laminating has 4 wide format machines, three at 62” wide, and one at 52” wide. Our capabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Max sheet width is up to 62”
• Max length is almost unlimited
• Machines can run roll products, or sheeted products
• Low melt and gloss laminates
• Stocks can range from digital out puts up to 1” thick boards

Specialty Films Laminating

In addition to banners and posters, our 4 wide format machines machines are used for many specialty film applications:

• Pressure sensitive films such as permanent adhesives for mounting, or long term applications. Removable adhesives for window clings, counter mats, or short term applications that need to be removed without any adhesive residue.
• Over laminates such as floor graphics, counter mats, mouse pads, polycarbonates, clear and matte pressure sensitives, scratch resistant, and just about any film you can imagine.
• Printable barrier films, white backer films and other block out films

Mounting (Litho Laminating)

Creative Laminating has one fully automated litho laminator, and one hand fed roll coater for small sheets and short runs. Our capabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Min sheet size of 8.5 x 11”
• Max sheet size of 42 x 60”
• Label stocks range from 80# litho label to 24 pt
• Backer stocks range from 14 pt to 3/8” thick boards
• We prefer at least one side of the stocks being laminated together to be uncoated

Die Cutting

Creative Laminating has a Thomson platen die cutter for finishing your POP work. Our capabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Min sheet size 8.5 x 11”
• Max sheet size 33.25 x 52”
• Max cutting area 33 x 47”
• Standard .937 steel rule die and capable of 1.125” dies

Index Tabbing Services

Creative Laminating was the first company in Minnesota to install and operate specialized equipment for tab cutting coated stocks, heavy ink coverages, and digitally printed stocks. We have 2 of those machines in addition to another high speed index tab laminator and cutter.

• Min sheet size is 5” W x 4.375” H
• Max sheet size is 14”W x 18” L
• Min tab cut size ½”, Min plastic size 1”
• Max tab cut size 5”, Max plastic size 5.5”
• Stocks range from 100# offset up to 24 pt (without laminate)\
• Clear laminate plus 18 color options
• Reinforcing tape for the binding edge
• Drilling available

Ancillary Services

In addition to the services listed above, we have many other options to finish your printing project, they are, but not limited to:

• Guillotine Cutting – up to 45”
• Hole Drilling – 1/8”, 1/4”, 5/16”, and 3/8”
• Corner Rounding – sealed edge, flush edge, before and/or after laminating. Radius of 1/8”, 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, or 5/8”
• Eyeleting – we stock brass and nickel, ¼” ID
• Shrink Wrapping
